Frequently Asked Questions About Wood Destroying Insects

Jerry Schmidt is licensed by the Texas Department of Agriculture Structural Pest Control Service, TPCL 13863 License #45935, to perform Wood Destroying Insect (WDI) Inspections. Sunview Inspections DOES NOT TREAT for termites or other wood destroying insects.

What is the purpose of a Termite/WDI (Wood Destroying Insect) Inspection?
The purpose of a WDI report is to look for any signs of visible evidence of termites, old house borers, powder post beetles, carpenter ants or carpenter bees that may be present in the structure. The inspector will also be looking for “conducive conditions” of Wood Destroying Insects which can lead to destruction of the wood framing or drywall in the home.

The home is made of stone or brick,  do I really need a Termite Inspection?
Not only can termites destroy the outside of the home, but termites can destroy the wood framing of the home and the drywall inside. Every home in Central Texas should have a termite inspection whether old or new, wood or stone.

Is A WDI (Wood Destroying Insect) Report Required?
When purchasing a home in Texas, most mortgage companies require a WDI (Wood Destroying Insect) Report of the home.

Who Is Responsible for Termite Treatment?
The current owner is usually responsible for treating any reported infestation. Even though new homes typically do not have any signs of termites, a termite inspection should be performed to see if there are conducive conditions that could cause future termite infestation.

How Soon Can I Get My WDI Report?
Reports are available same day and in some cases on-site. If you cannot be present for the inspection we will e-mail a copy to you and your real estate agent.

I have a VA loan, can you fill out a special termite form for the VA?
Yes!
